Resistance Band Resisted Crunch
The Resistance Band Resisted Crunch is a floor crunch with added band resistance that works the Middle Abs (Rectus Abdominis). Holding ankle straps or handles from a low door anchor at your sides, you crunch up against tension instead of body weight alone.
- Muscles Worked
- Abs (Rectus Abdominis) · also Obliques
- Equipment
- Door anchor, 2 ankle straps or handles
Set Up
- Anchor:
- Secure the band(s) in the door with the door anchor at the bottom of the door.
- Bands:
- Clip each end of the band(s) to an ankle strap (or a handle) and hold one in each hand.
- Body Position:
- Lie on your back with your head toward the door, knees bent and feet flat, far enough away that the bands start to stretch. Keep your arms straight and tight to your sides with your palms facing down.
Movement
Crunch up, raising your shoulders and moving the ankle straps or handles 3 to 4 inches toward your heels. Lower back to the starting position under control and repeat.
Points To Remember
- Keep your arms down by your sides.
- Think about moving your rib cage toward your pelvis as you crunch.
