Resistance Band Assisted Sit Up
The Resistance Band Assisted Sit Up is a beginner Abs exercise that works the Middle Abs while a band anchored at knee height helps pull your body up. It lets you practice the full Sit-Up movement before you have the strength for unassisted reps, or add reps when your Abs are fatigued.
- Muscles Worked
- Abs (Rectus Abdominis) · also Hip Flexors, Obliques
- Equipment
- Door anchor, 2 handles
Set Up
- Anchor:
- Secure the band(s) in the door with the door anchor at knee height.
- Bands:
- No adjustment needed; hold the handles or the band itself just above the clips.
- Body Position:
- Lie on your back with your feet 3 to 4 feet from the door, feet flat, knees bent and about 6 inches apart. Hold the handles with your arms bent and hands together above your hips, and start with your shoulder blades a couple of inches off the floor.
Movement
Raise your upper body until it is perpendicular to the floor, letting the band assist you. Lower back to the starting position under control and repeat.
Points To Remember
- Keep your arms bent at the same angle throughout.
- Keep your head straight, back straight and chest up.
