What The Two Numbers Mean

Every band carries two numbers. The first is the average tension you feel during most exercises, the same rating as our original bands. The second is the maximum tension, created by threading the band through a loop, clipping both ends onto an accessory and pulling to the end of the stretch.

Long Time User - Great Equipment
We live and work full-time out of a motorhome. I can't haul free weights around, so I've been using Bodylastics bands since at least 2006 (based on an old email I found from Blake Kassel the other day). Bodylastics equipment is tough stuff: I'm still using some bands with small, black clips on them, handles that are plain black tubes with foam rubber around them, and ankle straps that are about an inch wide with one d-ring on them. I've had to invent some exercises, or ways of doing some standard exercises, because the interior of a motorhome isn't as strong as a house (e.g., can't use door anchors). Not too long ago, I gave up my home-made bench press technique (bands doubled over, one end fastened to a handle with an ankle strap the other end with the clips, pillows behind my back to increase the tension, done lying on the bed or on the floor), and bought a Bodylastics curl-bar. Love the bar (but I still need the pillows, bed or floor!). This review was supposed to be about the 30 and 40 lb bands I bought. They look and work just fine. Based on my previous experience, I'm confident someone (I'm 84) will still be using them fifteen or sixteen years from now or so, just like some of the other bands I'm currently using.

Best equipment for every resistance exercise!!!!
I switched to Bodylastics products several years ago after being snapped in the back or legs by lesser quality bands and have never been disappointed. From all of the bands to bent curl bar to the band protector to universal attachments, they are all of the highest quality. Maybe slightly more expensive than the competition, but well worth the security of knowing that you want get a welt from a snapped band. They also wear much longer than any of the competition. It's thick and heavy duty. I add it to the orange band and do seated cable rows. With 70 lbs of latex pulling on me, I need to brace a foot against my door frame to be able to do this exercise with this much resistance. (I'm 83, by the way).

I am a true believer in using the bands to replace the gym and going with Bodylastics for quality bands and service! Every question was answered by email or on the phone in a very reasonable amount of time with a lot of help. Because of back issues it's hard for me use weights to do things like a squat or a stiff legged deadlift, but with the bands, I can! Also, I've never been able to use wrist straps at the gym for back exercises, but using ankle cuffs as handles work great! My back is truly getting the best development I've ever had since I no longer have to deal with my biceps failing prematurely on back exercises. The benefits are even better on my shoulders when using the ankle cuffs as grips for side laterals. The bands do take some getting used to as they're not weights, but once you understand how to get the resistance out of the bands, you're good to go. I'm starting to believe that if used properly, resistance bands might be better for muscle development than weights. I wrote a post about my experience on the subreddit for resistance bands training and I'll repeat what I said there: After being forced to workout at home and discovering bands the gyms are in trouble! I highly recommend the bands from Bodylastics.

As a rubber band, this is a good product. I do have some issue with nature of elastic resistance but that doesn't have anything to do with Bodylastics product themselves. Tough and provide decent resistance. Again, In my opinion, there are limits to what elastic resistance can achieve when it comes to strength training but as for general fitness, this works!

This is my 3rd purchase because I love this product that much. Seamless‚ÄîAs It Always Is
There are at least 4 terrific aspects of Bodylastics' tubes. 1-They're durable, very durable. Everything is wonderfully constructed with top-flight materials. The tubes, handles & ankle straps just keep on working. 2-In 8 or 10 years, only 2 tubes have snapped & the inner string kept the broken pieces from smacking me in the face. Great feature. Further, Bodylastics replaced them in a snap. 3-Bodylastics sells a ‚Äúheavy wrap‚Äù that wraps around 1 to 8 tubes. Therefore, after wrapping the band(s) in the easy-to/use wrap, you can put the wrap & tubes around a rough or square pole or stand on the wrapped tubes to do your exercise. 4-After a year or 2 of use, I replace the set of 5 tubes as a matter of course. Bodylastics sells a pack of 5 replacement bands separately, saving considerable dollars over the price of a starter kit. I've been using Bodylastics tubes for 10 years at least‚Äîbest tubes out there.

When using such a heavy gauge band, the last thing you want to experience is having it slip out of it's encasement causing possible injury to yourself. The clip is securely affixed to the cord. We had no door in our house that had enough free space behind it for a standard door frame Bodylastics Ultra Anchor Door Attachment, so I made this setup in a 48 inch-wide accessway between the kitchen and living room. My support beam (1/8 inch thick hollow steel tube 1.25 inch diameter) can be moved to 4 positions: ankle, waist, shoulder, and overhead heights as desired. The angle iron on either side is fastened to the studs with lag screws. The 30 pound Orange Bands Pack, when wrapped with the bands protector, and attached to the Resistance Bands Bar, lets me get a very good lat pull when my support beam is in the overhead position, but to get the full effect of the band I wrap it an extra turn around my beam to shorten it up enough to get more resistance earlier in the stroke. The 30 pound (orange) bands are a little too strong for my wife as she lifts herself off the ground, but for me they're perfect.

It's a beast.
I have several of every color band and now added the 40lb monster. I've also got a half dozen handles and a half dozen ankle straps as well as the door/column anchors and the curl bar. Added straps to the columns in my basement so I don't need to move anchors. Additional handles and ankle straps men's less interchanging of parts during each workout. Bodylastics has saved my life during the pandemic. I am a 30 year gym rat, pretty much always at the gym 5-6 days per week. Once I suspected gyms might close I bought my first bodylastics set. I added to it as I went. Pretty much completed my purchases by May and been using them 6 days per week in my finished basement in lieu of going to the gym. I also subscribe to the Eternity Warrior online subscription so I can have Blake and Ashanti working out with me every day. Otherwise working out alone in the basement is tough. The new 40 lb band is the same great quality as all of the Bodylastics equipment I have purchased. The only confusion I have is that I used the black 40# band on an exercise where I was previously using an orange band (30#) and a red band (8#) together. It felt like the black band was no additional resistance and in fact I added the red band (8#) to the black and didn't perceive a noticeable difference. I'm not trying to say the black 40# band doesn't provide the advertised resistance. I may be confused about how to measure and compare actual physical resistance based on the rated numbers. I am still a huge Bodylastics proponent. I have been using free weights and weight machines for 40 years and my routines featuring Bodylastics are yielding the best results I have ever had.

I have had a full set of these for years. I used them religiously for 6 months and was very happy with the results and videos. I had a shoulder injury, weather change and some life changes and it broke my routine. Now many years later am ready to try again, but the bands weren't. I hadn't stored or cared for them properly so needed to replace some of the bands. So setting up an area to use them and get working. Great system.

Improvement on the old band
There is s very good improvement on the old band but the clip was smaller and there is resistance written on the band in lbs and in kgs which is very nice. But the clip is smaller than the old band clip. Overall it is a quality product and I recommend buying it and to get the full set on the next buy.

Which individual band should I add?

Add the next band up from the heaviest band you own. If your heaviest is the Black 19–80 lb band, the Purple 23–90 lb or the Grey 40–160 lb band gives you room to keep getting stronger.
